    Police Incident Report

    April 30 to May 6

    The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.

    Old Saybrook

    Wednesday, April 30

    • A 50-year-old man of Ferry Road was arrested at 11:07 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond pending a May 1 court date.

    • A 21-year-old Clinton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:42 a.m. for failure to have insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Ferry Road near Ragged Rock Marina.

    Thursday, May 1

    No arrests were made and no summonses were issued.

    Friday, May 2

    • A 65-year-old Old Saybrook man was arrested at 5:05 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree under the Domestic Violence Act. He was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond pending a May 5 court date.

    • A 24-year-old woman of Denmore Lane was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:38 p.m. for failure to have insurance, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and defective windshield.

    Saturday, May 3

    • A 50-year-old Deep River woman was arrested at 2:17 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, traveling unreasonably fast, and failure to obey an overhead traffic signal. She was released on a $500 non-surety bond pending a May 12 court date.

    Sunday, May 4

    A 30-year-old man of Boston Post Road was arrested at 1:13 a.m. and charged with breach of peace and criminal mischief. He was processed and released on a $500 non-surety bond pending a May 13 court date.

    Monday, May 5

    • A 28-year-old man of Elm Street at 1:16 p.m. was arrested on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the first degree after he turned himself over to police. He was released on a $500 cash bond pending a May 20 court date.

    Tuesday, May 6

    No arrests were made.

    • A 44-year-old Madison man was issued a citation at 11:30 a.m. for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a license following a traffic stop on Route 1 near Denmore Lane.

    From April 30 to May 6, Old Saybrook police issued six individual citations to motorists for failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat, three citations for using a hand-held cell phone while driving, three citations for traveling unreasonably fast, two citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, two citations for failure to renew registration, two citations for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, one citation for failure to obey an overhead traffic signal, and one citation for failure to obey a stop sign.

    Wednesday, April 30

    No arrests were made and no summonses were issued.

    Thursday, May 1

    No arrests were made.

    • A 29-year-old man of West Main Street was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:03 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension and traveling unreasonably fast.

    • Suspicious activity on Colonial Court was reported at 2:15 p.m.

    Friday, May 2

    No arrests were made and no summonses were issued.

    • Criminal mischief was reported on the 300 block of River road at 1:49 p.m.

    • A larceny on Whitewood Road was investigated at 3:22 p.m.

    Saturday, May 3

    • A 19-year-old man of Killingworth Turnpike was arrested at 11 a.m. on a warrant charging him with larceny in the third degree and burglary in the third degree (from a building).

    • A domestic dispute was reported on Lockwood Drive at 1:47 a.m.

    • A larceny on the 400 block of West Main Street was investigated at 10:05 a.m.

    • A larceny on Nod Place was investigated at 11:42 a.m.

    • Suspicious activity was reported on the ten block of Marian Lane at 7:07 p.m.

    • A missing person was reported on Killingworth Turnpike at 10:21 p.m.

    Sunday, May 4

    • A 26-year-old man of Killingworth Turnpike was arrested at 10:34 p.m. and charged with possession of narcotics, use and/or possession of drug paraphernalia, improper hand signaling for turns or stopping, and illegal manufacture, distribution, or sale of prescription drugs. In the same incident a 17-year-old youthful offender was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, use and/or possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal manufacture, distribution, or sale of prescription drugs.

    • Street signs were reported damaged on Deerfield Drive at Fox Hill Road, Michael Drive at Christina Court, and Sassafras Lane at Cow Hill Road at 10:31 a.m.

    • A larceny on Airline Road was investigated at 12:05 p.m.

    • Between 4:40 and 5:40 p.m. police issued four written warnings and one citation to motorists on Long Hill Road, East Main Street, and West Main Street.

    Monday, May 5

    No arrests were made and no summonses were issued.

    • A larceny in the ten block of Killingworth Turnpike was investigated at 11:47 a.m.

    • An untimely death was reported on Liberty Street at 8:05 p.m.

    • A larceny on the ten block of West Main Street was investigated at 8:26 p.m.

    Tuesday, May 6

    • A 41-year-old woman of Bronx, New York was arrested at 3:56 p.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree (shoplifting), possession of narcotics, use and/or possession of drug paraphernalia, and destruction of property before, during, or after search.

    • A 20-year-old man of Killingworth Turnpike was arrested at 7:23 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree (embezzlement) and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

    • Criminal mischief was reported on Glenwood Road at 5:04 p.m.

    Westbrook

    Wednesday, April 30

    No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

    Thursday, May 1

    • A 46-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 12:52 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension and speeding after being radar clock traveling at 81 miles per hour. He was released on a $500 surety bond pending a May 14 court date.

    • A 20-year-old Old Saybrook man was issued a citation at 3:23 p.m. for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart after the 1997 Nissan Maxima he was driving eastbound on I-95 struck the rear of a 2004 Subaru Outback driven by a 64-year-old Guilford woman who had slowed for traffic ahead.

    • A disturbance at 128 South Main Street was investigated by Trooper Robert Hart at 4:14 a.m. No details were available.

    Friday, May 2 to Saturday, May 3

    No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

    Sunday, May 4

    • A 23-year-old Naugatuck man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on a warrant charging him with larceny in the third degree, tampering with evidence, weapons in a motor vehicle, and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was released at 11:44 a.m. on a $1,000 non-surety bond pending a May 15 court date.

    • A 23-year-old man of Brooklyn, New York was arrested at 9:45 p.m. and charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without a license after he was clocked traveling at 102 miles per hour. He was released on a $500 cash bond pending a May 16 court date.

    • A 42-year-old Guilford woman was issued a citation at 4:03 p.m. for failure to carry a license and failure to grant right of way at a private road following a two car accident. The cited driver made a left turn from the driveway of the Messerschmidt Pond parking area onto Route 145 when she struck a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 26-year-old Chester man whom she claimed she did not see. No injuries were reported among the drivers or the passengers in either vehicle.

    • At 6:04 p.m. Trooper Kevin Slonski reported that a 48-year-old man of Lords Lane was traveling southbound on Route 154 on a 1983 Honda CB1100F motorcycle when he turned right onto Lord's Lane and the vehicle suddenly accelerated and struck a light pole causing a power line to snap under the tension. The driver suffered lacerations and bruising and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar for observation. According to Slonski's written report the driver "stated [the] throttle stuck and caused him to accelerate. No physical evidence to suggest otherwise. Accident likely caused by mechanical failure."

    • The report of a suspicious incident at 340 Toby Hill Road was investigated by Trooper Mark Farotti at 1:05 a.m. No details were available.

    Monday, May 5 to Tuesday, May 6

    No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.
