The Record Company brings old-school power rock to Foxwoods Friday

Blues-rock triumvirate The Record Company plays Friday in the Fox Theater at Foxwoods. For the record, the company they're signed to is The Concord Group.

What would be really cool is if they were touring with a band called The Concord Group and that act was signed to a label called The Record Company. Or something like that.

Also, I wonder how many demo songs The Record Company mistakenly gets in the mail from young bands hoping to get signed. "Dear Record Company, we are hoping you will listen to our music and sign us to a huge contract ..."

If all these record label jokes sound dated, well, that's appropriate. The Record Company proudly works an old-school sonic recipe that draws heavily from across classic electric guitar generations and artists like T-Bone Walker, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Black Keys.

For anyone suffering from contemporary pop/hip hop OD, an evening spent with The Record Company might be a refreshing blast of well-played power rock.

The Record Company, 8 p.m. Friday, Fox Theater, Foxwoods; $25; 1-800-200-2882.
