“Did you grow up in a barn?!” That’s the question one or the other of my parents would ask me, voices pitched for maximum (faux) incredulity, when I did something rude or lacking a sufficient degree of manners. Seems like I heard this question daily.

Forgive me, then, if my associations with “barns” are not idyllic.

I wish Mom and Dad were around to see The Barn in Groton. THAT’S a barn. Though, frankly, the shimmering blonde wood, high ceiling space with a lovely bar and wonderful performance stage, looks more like something you’d see in a high-end ski resort – one of those Gstaad or Whistler Blackcomb places.

The Barn indeed features regular live music, boasts its own Barn Brew Co. craft beers, pizza, and serves as an emporium for the site-adjacent, co-owned New England Hemp Farm products.
