    A bit of Boss redux

    Alex Shillo (photo contributed)

On March 12, the tirelessly great Bruce Springsteen and the tirelessly great E Street Band hit the stage in the Mohegan Sun Arena. Not surprisingly, the show sold out instantly, so if you want to go, resale tickets are out there ranging from around $600 to over $2,500.

    Ouch.

It’s worth noting that, on Friday, multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Alex Shillo will perform a “Tribute to Bruce Springsteen” at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook. Shillo doesn’t do an impersonation of The Boss but, rather, performs heartfelt arrangements of Springsteen songs and sprinkles in a few of his own tunes as well.

Oh, and at $34, the Shillo tickets provide a more than reasonable option for all you Bruce Tramps out there.

Alex Shillo’s Tribute to Bruce Springsteen, 8 p.m. Friday, The Kate, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $34; www.thekate.org; (860) 510-0453.
