We’re talking about “retiring!” And then NOT retiring after they said they would.

Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet — arguably the finest Cajun band in history (aw, screw it: they ARE the finest Cajun band in history) — announced two years ago that they’d given up touring. Yes, they’d still play back home in Louisiana, and possibly record, but no more multi-city, cross-country or international junkets.
So, what’s with the advance notice about a show this Friday at The Kate in Old Lyme starring … Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet?!
One of two possibilities: either the original farewell tour is well into its third year, or they lied. Probably not intentionally. They don’t knowingly fib! They just couldn’t … not get in the van and hit the road and play!
In any case, who cares? You can (still) see them, and that’s damned great.
