    The Ant goes marching

    Adam Ant (adam-ant.com)

In any musical genre that’s past its shelf life, a lot of the acts who were popular at the time tend to slide into a retrospective “Why, again, were they successful?” niche.

For me, Adam Ant doesn’t fit this category because I didn’t like him during his real-time popularity. I can, however, understand why he filled New Wave dance floors with his relentless African drum patterns, synthesizer honks and songs that were lyncanthopic transformations from punk to pop.

For those who were happily bitten by the Ant, relive the glories of youth Saturday when he plays a show in the Great Cedar Showrooms at Foxwoods. And rest assured you’ll hear “Goody Two Shoes,” “Kings of the Wild Frontier,” “Friend or Foe,” “Dog Eat Dog” and “Prince Charming” and more.

Adam Ant, 8 p.m. Saturday, Great Cedar Showroom, Foxwoods; $63-$183; foxwoods.com.
