Short story author Susanne Davis appears Wednesday at Bank Square Books in Mystic. She'll discuss and sign copies of her first collection, "The Appointed Hour," just out from Cornerstone Press.

Davis, who teaches creative writing at Trinity College and the University of Connecticut, is a graduate of the esteemed Iowa Writers Workshop. "The Appointed Hour" is a fascinating batch of stories that touch on a variety of characters, settings and experiences that suggest not just a vivid imagination but also remarkable poignance and empathy.
