MitchFest this weekend benefits Hope Hospice

It's a bit frightening to think MitchFest is already a decade old. Time is brutal. But the fest, in honor of James "Mitch" Christina, a live music supporter and patriarch of the Westerly blues scene that includes sons Fran and Bob Christina, is a joyous celebration of music that benefits Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Rhode Island — the giving outfit that provided so much succor to Mitch and his family.

The event takes place Saturday and Sunday in Westerly's Knickerbocker Music Center. On Saturday, performers are: Middle Ground (5 p.m.); The Tyler Gartch Band (6 p.m.); Lisa Marie and Johnny Juxo (7 p.m.); Tony Lynn Washington Band with Fran and Bob Christina and more (8 p.m.); and the Joe Moss Band ( 9:30 p.m.).

On Sunday: Brothers of Harmony (2 p.m.); Johnny and the East Coast Rockers (3:30 p.m.); The Chris Leigh Band (5 p.m.); and a multi-artist tribute to Matt "Guitar" Murphy (6:30 p.m.).

MitchFest, 4 p.m. Sat. and 1 p.m. Sun., Knickerbocker Music Center, 35 Railroad Ave., Westerly; $20 each day or $30 two-day pass; (401) 315-5070.
