In a perfect world, the New London Big Band would have one of those Vegas-style, months-long residencies we associate with Celine Dion's 700+ shows at Caesar's Palace or Elvis doing over 600 performances at the Hilton.

Only, the NL Big Band's home base would be the Social Bar + Kitchen in New London. Truth told, they did hold down a pre-Covid weekly spot each Wednesday on the calendar with a series of happily sold-out crowds. So it's very cool the Big Band, winners of a CTNOW "Best Jazz Band" trophy, returns to the Social Wednesday.

Even better news: New York City jazz vocalist Svetlana will join the group for the evening. Svetlana is an established global presence and her most recent recording, 2019's "Night at the Movies," topped the Billboard Traditional Jazz Album charts. This is going to be an incendiary blend of talent. 

The performance, consisting of two one-hour sets with a 30 minute break between, takes place outdoors in the Social's back lot with a rain date of Sept. 24.
