Eighth annual Hop Hop for the Homeless tour hits New London Saturday

Those who've seen Hartford rapper Joey Batts usually leave the show with the belief that the guy could probably freestyle entertainingly, oh, for about seven years.

One thing for certain in that spirit: For the past seven years, Batts has organized his annual holiday Hip Hop for the Homeless shows. This year's eighth junket winds through Connecticut featuring local and statewide rappers at each stop, and all the proceeds and donations benefit area-specific food banks and shelters.

On Saturday, Hip Hop for the Homeless lands in New London at the Oasis Pub. Anticipated participants include Batts, Ron Lynch III, Meech, James Joyce 'The Squatch' & White Cheddar, Trev Michaud, Stryfe & N.M.E. The Illest, Stars and Beyond, Muggsy, Suave Ski and Kamoflauge.

Hip Hop for the Homeless, 8 p.m. Saturday, Oasis Pub, 16 Bank St., New London; donations welcome; (860) 447-3929.
