    Comic Engvall to deliver punchlines

You've chortled countless times over the humor of Bill Engvall, a veteran of the immortal Blue Collar Comedy tours. He's the dude with the signature "Here's your sign" bits. You know the drill: Engvall describes real-life and blatantly obvious situations - like walking into a Wal-Mart in full camo gear - and then a citizen asks a stupid question. In this case, the Wal-Mart greeter queries, "You been hunting?"

Engvall waits for the laughter to subside, then mimes flicking an imagingary placard into space and, smiling and shaking his head in mock-weariness over of the goofiness of the world, he delivers the anticipated, "Here's your sign!" payoff line.

In a way, it's a variation of fellow Blue Collarist Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a redneck if ..." routines in the self-effacing and affectionate satire of Deep South stereotypes. But, hey, Engval, who appears Saturday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods, is a funny dude if you like the Dixie stuff.

    - Rick Koster

Bill Engvall, 8 p.m. Saturday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $35-$60, 1-800-200-2882
