It's an egg-centric weekend, my friends.

(Go ahead and mock my puns, Easter Bunny, I don't care!)

First up, on Friday, is the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center's annual Woodland Egg Hunt. Ages 1 to 10 can trod the trails, pick up wooden eggs and bring them back to the center to decorate. The youngsters can also meet the Wild Easter Bunny and other critters.

Then, on Saturday, Olde Mistick Village rolls out its Easter Egg Hunt, with different times tagged for different ages. The breakdown is: in the gabezo, noon for ages 2 and under; and, in the Apple Orchard, noon for 3-year-olds, 12:15 p.m. for 4-year-olds, and 12:30 p.m. for ages 5-7, and 12:45 p.m. for ages 8-10. (If it rains, the eggs will be available in the gazebo.)

When the kiddies are exhausted from chasing down Easter eggs, they move on to meet Mr. Bunny in the gazebo. Parents, bring your camera.

Egg hunts, too, pop up Saturday in Howard T. Brown Park in Norwich, at the City of Groton Municipal Building, and at Union Baptist Church in Mystic.

Meanwhile, the Tanger Outlets in Westbrook hosts a Spring Egg Hunt, which starts at noon Saturday. And check out these numbers: more than 5,000 plastic eggs — filled, naturally, with candy — will be hidden in fresh hay. The younguns are let loose to search for their seasonal sugar rush. Expect lots of, ahem, egg-citement.
