Guitarist Albert Lee in concert at the Kate

    Albert Lee (submitted)

“Lee” is not just preferred as a middle name by parents hoping to raise a serial killer. “Lee” in many forms of usage pops up a lot in music, too.

    Consider:

Alvin Lee (Ten Years After), Rickie Lee Jones (singer), Arthur Lee (Love), Lee Dorman (Captain Beyond), Lee Rocker (Stray Cats), Lee Rittenour (jazz guitar), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Jerry Lee Lewis (“The Killer,” but not in a serial murderer sense), Brenda Lee (chanteuse), David Lee Roth (Van Halen), Lee Dorsey (singer/pianist), Tommy Lee (Pamela Anderson Band), Paul Lee McCartney (Beatles) and Johnny Lee, Lee Hazlewood and Lee Greenwood (occasionally indistinguishable country artists).

    Did we leave anyone out?

Why, yes! And we’re idiots! How could we forget the amazing ALBERT Lee?!

The British guitarist, a master of country, jazz and fusions thereof — and developer of his own dexterous and speed-of-light style — Albert Lee has had an amazing solo career and by his participation heightened the bands of The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and The Crickets.

Catch Lee perform Thursday in Old Saybrook at The Kate. It’ll be the ultimate in musical Lee-ness. Oh, and there’s a pre-show meet ‘n’ greet with an up-close Q&A session with Lee, a signed poster and photo ops. Price does NOT include a ticket to the concert.

Albert Lee, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, The Kate, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; with special guests The Cryers; $44; thekate.org, (860) 510-0453.

Albert Lee Meet ‘n’ Greet, 6 p.m. Thursday, The Kate; $50.
