An abundance of art in Chester

    "Griswold Point" by Pam Carlson

It's a case of both quantity and quality at the Spring Exhibit opening Saturday at the Maple and Main Gallery in Chester. More than 200 new works will be showcased, and they are the creations of 45 artists from around Connecticut. Gallery goers will see landscapes and cityscapes, abstracts and semi-abstracts. Many of the artists will be at the gallery at 1 Maple St. during the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit runs through June 19. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Wed. and Thurs., noon-7 p.m. Fri. and Sat. and noon-5 p.m. Sun.; (860) 526-6065. Also on view in Maple and Main's Stone Gallery during April are works by Haddam-Killingworth High School students.
