    Tell Me Something: Karrie Bulger - artist, radio host and mom-to-be

    Tell Me Something is a Q&A feature that spotlights interesting people doing interesting things. It appears every Monday on graceforwomen.com.

    ~~~
    Karrie Bulger is a photographer who also hosts "Moon Cheese Baby", which can be heard every other Sunday on WCNI New London (90.9FM). The radio show features live in-studio performances from local bands, guest DJs, and feels, she says, "like being hugged tightly by David Bowie for three hours straight."
    Bulger's artwork is featured on the forthcoming album from local rockers Fatal Film and her first curated gallery show, "Casual Tornado," opens at New London's Hygienic Art Gallery on Sept. 14.
    Bulger is married and lives in Groton but she's body-and-soul from a dusty patch in Texas.
    Say you have a present day high school locker. Whose picture would be hanging in it?
    My locker would be overflowing, mainly with overdue assignments, but also with an absurd amount of items. Here's just a glimpse of the madness: Photos of my husband Isaac and several of our dog and cat, Pablo and Mr. Kitty; an ultrasound photo of our first child we are expecting early next year; photos of all my closest friends; personal doodles/crafts/Polaroids; artwork from friends; and loads of album artwork from all my favorite bands.
    What's your favorite sandwich?A whole wheat bagel toasted, with melted provolone cheese, a slice of tomato, fresh basil, salt and pepper, and drizzled with olive oil.
    Favorite Beatles song? "Eleanor Rigby"
    Name an item you can't live without: Strawberry lip gloss.
    Item you should live without and keep meaning to get rid of:
    Cable television.
    What do you value most in a friend? Sincerity, and how they value animals.
    What was your worst job? Tomato slicer at Whataburger.
    Last TV show you binge-watched: Parks and Rec.
    What is the last book you read and movie you saw? Would you recommend it?
    Book: "Dad is Fat" by Jim Gaffigan. I found it insightful, hilarious, and I do recommend it.
    Movie: "Evil Dead" (2013) - highly recommended for horror fans.
    Do you have any pet peeves?
    Television commercials and bad table manners
    Which is better: Saturday night or Sunday morning?
    Sunday mornings spent at WCNI.
    New York or Los Angeles? As much as I long for the west coast, NYC has my heart.
    Sorbet or ice cream? Both ... I mean, come on, I'm four months pregnant. (Also - gummy worms, please.)
    What did you think you were going to be when you grew up? Photographer - but if you ask my father, his responses would differ... "mother of 10 boys," "nurse," and "president."
    What are you most proud of?
    The artwork I recently did for the unreleased and highly anticipated Fatal Film album.
    When you're not working, you're most likely:
    Taking photos, watching movies, spending time with friends and family.
    What is the best thing your parents taught you, by word or example? Patience, compassion, and determination.
    What's one of your family traditions?
    The Bulger annual October horror movie-a-thon.
    What historical event would you like to have been witness to?
    The love affair between artist Auguste Rodin and his muse/model Camille Claudel.
    What is your favorite place to recharge and/or find serenity?
    Family cabin on Damariscotta Lake in Maine.
    Who alive today do you most admire?
    My husband.
