Tell Me Something: Of resolutions and the best blizzard movies

Before we put our calendars on the curb with the Christmas trees, we thought it would great to ask the lovely and talented people who participated in "Tell Me Something" this past year two final questions.

    1. Have you ever kept a New Year's resolution? If so, what was it?

    2. Say you're housebound by a blizzard this winter. What's your go-to winter storm movie and drink?

Catie Talarski, senior producer, Connecticut Public Radio

    1. New Year's resolutions I have kept: Cook more meals, rather than spending $$ eating out. Do pushups. Take more road trips. (Because I cannot afford to take a real vacation, but need to occasionally get outta town.)

New Year's resolutions I have not kept: Run more. Get off the internets. Write letters.

    2. Hot toddy. And instead of a movie, I would snow-binge-watch popular TV shows. In the past: "Lost", "Breaking Bad", "The Wire", "Downton Abbey" Currently: "Homeland".

    Karrie Bulger, artist, WCNI

    1. Never.

    2. This year I fell in love with the film "Frances Ha", so I could easily re-watch that this winter. My husband and I lean more towars binge watching entire television series each winter and "Parks & Recreation" is the top winter choice for 2013.

    Becky Kessler, singer-guitarist, Violent Mae

    1. No I have not ... maybe this year?

    2. Drink: Jack on ice. Film: "Coffee and Cigarettes".

Catriona Grant, pastor, Ledyard Congregational Church, United Church of Christ

    1. I guess one New Year's resolution I've pretty much kept, is to write a little most days. This has happened more by circumstance than any great effort on my part.

    2. My go-to winter storm movie would be "Pride and Prejudice" and indeed most everything Jane Austen accompanied by a good cuppa tea.

Krystal Kornegay Rose, project manager of the Online Learning Community Project at Mystic Seaport

    1. Yes, to give up all meat except fish.

    2. "Road House" with gin and tonics. Wait, I've actually done that.

Jeanne Sigel, development and marketing director, Garde Arts Center, New London

    1. To create a better balance between our personal lives and Garde responsibilities.

    2. Back to back viewing on MetroCast on Demand of this season's "Homeland" followed by Netflix episodes of "White Collar" or "Dr. Who". We will be sipping hot chocolate (in our favorite chairs) by the fireplace!

Jane Martineau, Director of Theater and coordinator of the Arts Program at The Williams School, New London

    1. I have made New Year's resolutions but I don't remember what they are.

    2. Downton Abbey. Beverage (depending on how much snow and if I get plowed): Start with lemon, ginger, cucumber water interchanged with Earl Grey or herbal tea, and maybe Grand Marnier in a warm snifter.

    Shane Valle, director, WATERFORDrama

1.. The only New Year's resolution that I have ever been able to keep is the one to not make any more New Year's resolutions.

    2. Providing I don't lose power during the storm, "The Godfather" movies are always a top pick when I've got some time to kill. Those tend to go well with a nice single malt Scotch.

Roslyn Rubinstein, director, Waterford Public Library

    1. Yes, I resolved not to make any more New Year's resolutions!

    2. "Gigi" - a classic from 1958 starring Leslie Caron and Louis Jourdan. Comfort drink : Dunkin' Donuts Dunkaccino and throw in a chocolate-glazed donut.

    Kat Murphy, artist

    1. Resolutions are made to be broken

    2. Red wine and "Breaking Bad".
