    H.S. track: East Lyme girls win ECC Division I title

    East Lyme — Claire Mason and Jamie Foster won two events each as East Lyme clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I girls' track title with a 93-53 win over Fitch on Wednesday.

    Mason won the 1,600 meters (6:00.7), 800 (2:36.9) and teamed with Saige Deveau, Katherine Harris and Katie Solinsky to win the 4x400 relay while Foster won the discus (110 feet, 3 inches) and javelin (96-9). Olivia Backofen, Harris, Deveau, Samantha Lyster and Solinsky also won events for East Lyme (4-0, 4-0) while teammates Phoebe Provencher, Alicia Lan, Meghan McCauley and Lindsay Kollmer won the 4x800.

    Fitch's Madison Powe won the 100 (12.5), long jump (16-01.5) and teamed with Janaya Barley, Lily Johnson and Abby Rogers to win the 4x100. Paige Pollard, Sydney Comstock and Colleen Duffy also won events for Fitch (3-1, 1-1).   

    In other meets:

    • Kate Hall won two events and was part of a winning relay team as Stonington beat Bacon Academy 104-45 in an ECC Division II meet. Hall won the 100 (12.4) and 200 (26.1). Also winning events for the Bears (2-0, 2-0) were Kaleigh Bolduc, Lily Anderson, Jessica Detwiler, Lindsey Orr, Lucy Sternberg, Lila Rich, Keegan Donohue and Aliza Bell while teammates Emma Small, Liz Grey and Gwen Andersen helped Stonington sweep the relays.

    • Norwich Free Academy swept an ECC Division I tri-meet, defeating Ledyard 103-46 and New London 128-21. The Colonels beat the Whalers 107-23. Ally Lewis won the 100 (12.8), 200 (27.0) and high jump (5-4) for the Wildcats (2-1, 2-1) while Ally Tran won the 1,600 (7:27), Olivia Crawford the 300 hurdles (51.7) and Abby Millbach the long jump (14-7.75) against both teams for Ledyard (3-2, 2-2) and Marisa Parker won the shot put (30-5.50) against both teams for New London (0-6, 0-4).

    • Lauren Ross won three events as Montville beat Woodstock 82-64 in an ECC Division II meet. Ross won the 100 hurdles (16.7), 300 hurdles (50.3) and high jump (4-6) and teammate Mady Whittaker won the 800 (2:34), 1600 (6:03) and teamed with Jenny Alarcon, Maddie Beaupre and Lexi Peck to win the 4x400 relay. Lexi Peck won the 400 and teamed with Sarah May, MacKenzie Clark and Beaupre to win the 4x100 relay for Montville (3-0, 2-0) and teammates Savanna Perkins, Annali Nelson and Sheyenne Gillis also won events.

    • Killingly outlasted Waterford 84-65 in an ECC Division II meet despite three individual wins by Zora LaBonte. LaBonte capured the 100, 200 and 400 for the Lancers (0-2, 0-2), winning the 200 in 26.8 seconds.

    Boys

    • Cam Whalen won three events as Stonington beat Bacon Academy 128-22 in an ECC Division II meet. Whalen took the 110 hurdles (14.6), 300 hurdles (41.0) and 200 (23.3) and teammate Justin McKenna won the 100 (11.4) and long jump (19-9.5). Also winning events and helping the Bears (2-0, 2-0) sweep the relays were Rhys Hammond, Ethan Allen-Fernandez, Harrison Rose, Jared Rudzinsky, Joseph Hinckley, Lucas Falcone, Grayson DelGrosso, Max Wojtas, Chase Flynn, Blake Edwards, Hayden Parrilla, Ben Abely and Graham Johnstone.

    • Sam Whittaker and Akhil Chilamkurhi won two events each as East Lyme beat Fitch 83-67 in an ECC Division I meet. Whittaker took the 1600 (4:28) and 200 (10.25) and Chilamkurhi won the 300 hurdles (43.2) and pole vault (11-6). Rob Avena and Ryan McCauley each won an event and were on two winning relays teams for East Lyme (3-1, 3-1) while teammates Pat Dowd, Makaih Olawale and Sam Highman also won events and Chris Abby, Luke Folz and Riley Carr were on winning relay teams. Lorenzo Bell won the long jump (20-0) and triple jump (39-11) for Fitch (3-1, 1-1) and teammates Ethan Alves, Adrian Albo, Chris Holmes and Will Dentch also won events with Keshav Patel-Garcia, Marcus Cole, Albo and Fernando Coreas winning the 4x100 relay.

    • Shayne Beckloff won all three sprinting events as Waterford rolled to a 93.5-56.5 win over Killingly and an ECC Division II meet. Beckloff captured the 100 (11.1), 200 (22.9) and 400 (55.3) for the Lancers (1-1, 1-1), while Sam Lenes captured a pair of distance events for Waterford, the 1,600 (5:11) and 3,200 (11:02).

    • Montville remained unbeaten in ECC Division II with a 106-44 over Woodstock Academy. Derek Strickland won the 110 hurdles (15.6), 300 hurdles (43.2) and triple jump (37-10) for the Indians (3-0, 2-0) while Greg Clark captured the javelin (145-0) and 200 (22.2), and Nik Angell won the 100 (11.1).
