    H.S. roundup: Ledyard boys rally for 3-1 soccer win over Woodstock

    Woodstock — Ledyard erupted for three goals in the final 19 minutes to rally past Woodstock Academy 3-1 in a boys' soccer match on Tuesday.

    Trailing 1-0, Nick Washington tied the game for the Colonels (2-0) in the 61st minute (Daimon Pollard assisted). Washington assisted on the go-ahead goal by Alex Warmus just two minutes later before Washington and Pollard hooked up again for an insurance goal with five minutes remaining.

    Ledyard held a 20-10 edge in shots and goalie Blake McLeod made five saves.

    In other games: 

    • East Lyme scored goals on its first four shots and cruised to a 7-1 victory over Bacon Academy. Kurt Mahlke scored three goals for the Vikings (1-2) while Matt Tapia had two goals and three assists, Cooper Pazzaglia scored twice, Finn Power had two assists and goalies Owen Brown (eight) and Joseph Shea (four) combined for 12 saves.

    Marc Josaphat scored three goals and Christo Moran-Vargas had three assists as NFA beat Fitch 4-2. Tyler Devega also scored, Justin Le had an assist and Xavier Epperson made six saves for NFA (1-1). Sebastian Duffy and Aiden Drake had goals for Fitch (2-1).

    • Tyler Fidrych had a goal and three assists to highlight Stonington's 7-1 win over New London. Sam Montalto and Jacob Pereira scored two goals apiece for the Bears (3-0) while Billy de Castro and Will Sawin added on goal apiece, Ethan Allen-Fernandez had two assists and Elias Dahl and Dominic Morrone each had one assist.

    • Zach Crawford scored three minutes into the game to lift Lyman Memorial to a 2-0 win over Wheeler. Bowen Baker made 10 saves in goal for the Lions (0-2).

    • Meynor Sanchez scored three goals as Grasso Tech rolled to a 5-0 win over Vinal Tech in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Anthony Guardamino added a goal and an assist for the Eagles (2-0) while Kevin Vazquez scored a goal and Adam Chiocola, Jorge Serrano and Fabricio Gonzalez each had an assist.

    • Tyler Nadeau scored a pair of goals as Norwich Tech rolled to a 4-0 win over Cheney Tech in the CTC Charter Oak Division. Kenny McKenna added a goal and an assist for the Warriors (2-0, 1-0) while Zach Lamatie scored a goal and Mateo Gonzalez had an assist.

    • Alfonso Vazquez Villar scored four goals, including the 100th of his career, as Windham beat St. Bernard 8-0. Martin Arvidson made 15 saves for the Saints (0-2).

    Field hockey

    Sarah Healy's goal with 15:06 remaining lifted East Lyme to a 1-0 ECC victory over Woodstock. Kristen Healy assisted for the Vikings (3-0, 2-0).

    H.S. girls' swimming

    • Katie Keating won a pair of events as East Lyme opened its season with a 78-45 win over Lyman/Windham/Parish Hill in an ECC meet. Keating won the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.17) and the 200 individual medley (2:27.48). Natalie D'Amico, Anna Johnson, Grace Vlaun, Anna Lu and Nikki Hahn also won events for the Vikings, who swept the relays behind Hailey Newton, En-Hua Holtz, Ashwini Sahasrabudhe, Grace Liu, Jamie Kim, Soleil Demars, Alissa Li, Atena Mendez, Hahn and Vlaun. Sydney Crawford won two events for Lyman (0-2, 0-2).

    • Fitch/Stonington/New London opened its season with a 97-86 win over Waterford in an ECC meet. Delaney Reck, Alyson Lowney and Kylie Heard won events for Fitch, which swept the relays behind Emily Tarinelli, Finella Smith, Sara-Beth Bouchard, Rebecca Lowney, Heard and Reck. Elyse Gathy and Lily Watson won two events each for Waterford (0-2, 0-1) and teammates Jenna Morin and Camille Caldrello also won events. Gathy won the 200 freestyle (2:22.95) and 100 backstroke (1:12.59) and Watson won the 200 IM (2:39.84) and 100 freestyle (1:05.69).

    • Old Lyme/Valley Regional/Old Saybrook won every event and beat Ledyard 124-42 in a nonleague meet. Connie Pan won the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle and Grace Sweeney won the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle. Laura Day, Zoe Cika, Lauren Lee and Helen Day also won events while Makenna Harms and Loretta Cecchini were on winning relay teams.
