    H.S. baseball: Fitch beats Waterford 10-5 and wins ECC Division I title

    Waterford — Fitch High School clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I baseball title Thursday with a 10-5 win over Waterford.

    Cam McGugan had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI for Fitch (14-3, 5-1). Trace Morales had two hits and three RBI.

    Preston Tabor was 3-for-3 with a double for the Lancers (12-5, 3-3) while Jack Lathrop and Anthony Jessuck each had two hits and two RBI.

    In other games:

    • Norwich Free Academy scored five runs in the fourth inning and held on for a 6-5 win over East Lyme in ECC Divison I play. The Wildcats are 4-12, 1-5. A.J. Montejano had three hits for the Vikings (7-9, 3-3).

    • Bradin Anderson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI as Wheeler beat Putnam 10-1 in an ECC Division IV game at Dodd Stadium. Kyle Kessler doubled and drove in two runs and Sean Bergel was 2-for-3 and scored three runs for the Lions (6-8, 3-4).

    • Woodstock Academy defeated Montville 17-4 in ECC Div. II. Chas Terni had a hit and an RBI for Montville (3-13, 1-6).

    • Lyman Memorial blanked Tourtellotte 7-0 in ECC Div. IV. Ben Darrow pitched a complete game and Jacob Citro had three hits for the Bulldogs (14-3, 8-0).

    • Bacon Academy celebrated senior day with a 4-3 over New London at Dodd Stadium in ECC Div. II. Chris Lusignan was the winning pitcher and Jacob Ambrose earned his second save by pitching out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the seventh. Alex Blanchette's RBI single snapped a 3-3 tie in the sixth for Bacon (15-1, 7-0). Yanury Cardenales had two hits and scored twice for New London (7-9, 1-6).

    • Riley Warecke's bases-clearing double in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Old Lyme a 2-1 win over Stonington. Warecke also pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts for the Wildcats (9-8). Stonington is 11-5.
