    Waterford at Montville

    Records: Waterford (1-0); Montville (1-0)

    Fast facts: One of the region's best baseball rivalries takes to football tonight on the turf at Montville. The Indians used 131 yards from Kenny Strecker and some stout second-half defense to defeat Watertown last week, 20-13. … Waterford quarterback Brian Gencarelli scored on the game's final play to lift Waterford past Stonington, 33-28. … The winner of this game takes a step toward the ECC Medium Division title.

    Danbury at Fitch (7 p.m.)

    Records: Danbury (0-1); Fitch (1-0).

    Fast facts: The Hatters finished 3-7 last season and lost their opener to Norwalk last week. But they have Villanova-bound linebacker/running back Austin Calitro, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound specimen that should have Fitch's attention. Danbury also has running back/safety Aaron Dixon, who is also looking at some FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) schools. … Fitch opened last week with a win at Plainfield but steps up significantly in class here.

    Windham at Ledyard

    Records: Windham (0-1); Ledyard (1-0).

    Fast facts: There was nothing complicated about Ledyard's throttling of Killingly last week: Find Alex Manwaring and give him the ball. He ran for 279 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass. Manwaring rushed for more than 1,000 yards last year in seven games. … Windham struggled at NFA last week. This is the opener in the ECC Medium Division for both teams.

    Bacon Academy at East Lyme

    Records: Bacon (0-1); East Lyme (0-0)

    Fast facts: Bacon coach Duane Maranda returns to his alma mater and a program for which he was once defensive coordinator under former coach Andy Dousis. The Bobcats lost a fourth-quarter lead last week and eventually the game to Griswold. … East Lyme plays its first game. Chad Berry, a running back/linebacker, is one of the most talented players in the conference.

    Stonington at St. Bernard

    Records: Stonington (0-1); St. Bernard (1-0)

    Fast facts: The Saints won their season opener last week on the road in Lowell, Mass., holding Lowell to 103 total yards. Sean Hurley led the Saints with 75 yards rushing and quarterback Phil Jenkins passed for 154 yards and a touchdown. They open the ECC Small Division here. … Stonington was one play away from defeating Waterford, but allowed a score on the last play of the game.

    Old Saybrook/Westbrook at East Hampton/Vinal Tech

    Fast facts: Former East Lyme assistant Rudy Bagos makes his coaching debut for Old Saybrook/Westbrook. East Hampton/Vinal Tech, a Class L school because of the cooperative, lost to Cromwell last week.

    Fairfield Prep at Griswold

    Fast facts: Fairfield Prep, a Class LL school from the competitive Southern Connecticut Conference, makes the long drive East this week, following its 42-0 loss to Hand of Madison. Prep defeated Griswold last year in Fairfield. … Quarterback Adam Davis went 7-for-15 for 144 yards and threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns passes last week to rally the Wolverines past Bacon Academy.

    Old Lyme/Valley Regional at Nonnewaug-Woodbury (1 p.m.)

    Records: Old Lyme/Valley Regional (1-0); Nonnewaug (0-1)

    Fast facts: Old Lyme/Valley played among the state's most entertaining games last weekend, squeezing out a 48-47 win over North Branford. And Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn played a game no one else in the state may duplicate this season: He scored six touchdowns, including an 80-yard kickoff return and a 30-yard interception return in the second half.
