Middletown — Jon Mewha pitched a three-hitter and third-seeded Fitch scored an unearned run in the second inning to defeat No. 3 RHAM of Hebron 1-0 on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Class L state baseball tournament at Palmer Field.
The Falcons (23-4) will return to Palmer Field either Friday or Saturday to face No. 24 New Canaan in the championship game at a time to be announced. New Canaan beat No. 21 Sheehan of Wallingford 8-4 in the first game Tuesday.
Mewha struck out nine for Fitch, which scored when a RHAM infielder dropped a pop up with two outs in the second.
