West Haven — Third-seeded Granby Memorial scored five runs in the second inning and pitcher Neve Stearns made the lead hold up as the Bears defeated No. 2 Waterford 6-2 on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class M softball tournament at West Haven High School.

Elaina Sullivan homered off Stearns (nine strikeouts) leading off the seventh for the Lancers, who finish the season 24-2.

Granby will play the winner of Tuesday’s second game between top-seeded Seymour and No. 4 Rocky Hill in the state final either Friday or Saturday at a site and time to be announced.
