    East Lyme nips Waterford 2-1 in OT to win ECC girls' soccer crown

    Montville — Meredith Moore’s goal in overtime gave top-seeded East Lyme a 2-1 victory over No. 3 Waterford in the Eastern Connecticut Conference girls’ soccer tournament championship game Tuesday night at Montville High School.

    The Vikings (16-0-2) will take an unbeaten record into the upcoming CIAC state tournmanet while the Lancers, who were making their third straight appearance in the championshp match, fall to 13-4-2.

    It was the third meeting this season between the two rivals. They played to a scoreless overtime draw early in the season before East Lyme won the second meeting 1-0.
