    H.S. boys' basketball: Waterford edges Bacon 70-69 for 12th straight win

    Colchester — Landon Peabody scored 29 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as Waterford won its 12th straight game with a 70-69 boys' basketball victory over Bacon Academy on Tuesday night.

    Peabody also made four 3-pointers for the Lancers (15-3) while adding 10 rebounds. Jake Mangual also had 10 rebounds and Mike Buscetto finished with eight assists.

    Jimmy Matos scored 24 points and Sean Kelly 10 for Bacon, each making three 3-pointers.

    In other games:

    • St. Bernard beat Tourtellotte in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division game, 49-29. David Sutton and John Vogt scored 12 points each for the Saints (9-7, 6-2).

    • Eddie Volkerts scored 22 points had 15 rebounds and five assists as Fitch beat Montville 70-50. Dyami Newton scored 15 points and Ryan Rueling had 14 points and six steals for Fitch (11-6). Cody Calash had 19 points and TT Bowens scored 17 for Montville (3-13).

    • Drake Gavin scored 27 points as Old Lyme beat Hyde of New Haven 62-58 in a Shoreline Conference game. George Doll scored 12 for Old Lyme (12-5, 11-4).

    • Jalen Graham scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, as Norwich Free Academy roared out to a 23-7 first-quarter lead on the weay to a 58-48 win over Stonington. The Wildcats are 11-7. Amadi White led the Bears (8-10) with 19 points and Matt Schmeelk added 12.

    • East Lyme lost to Killingly, 50-49. Dev Ostrowski led the Vikings (8-9) with 21 points.
