The Republican House and Senate may be causing irreparable damage to our democracy as well as our way of life.

Congress, as an equal branch of government, has the responsibility to demand that the president obey his oath of office and “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." They are derelict in that duty by not enforcing the Emolument Clause in the U.S. Constitution. By failing to indict President Donald Trump, his family and members of his cabinet, they become co-conspirators in his quest to turn our government into a kleptocracy.

The Republican tax cut is a lie; it will not benefit the middle and lower wage earners, it will enrich the top wealthiest 1 percent. Trump's reverse Robin Hood tax plan will allow him, his kids and his billionaire cabinet to make money by cutting Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program while adding $1.4 trillion to the national debt.

We can thank Trump and everyone who blindly supports his agenda for the sustained assault on the middle class and those less fortunate.
