Did I really read Chris Powell's column, “Political correctness can’t transform boys into girls,” (July 8)? It is so refreshing to read a well-reasoned opinion based on scientific facts. Yes, there are physiological (and psychological) differences between men and women. I agree that discarding objective criteria in determining gender is impinging on privacy and other conscience rights through law. I do think it unfair to allow male athletes to compete as girls. We need to find better ways to respect each other’s differences without restricting the freedom of others all in the name of political correctness.
