No way to hide hatred for Palestinians

Mr. Stein’s letter “Israel hit piece was pure propaganda” (April 27), struck me as glossing over some facts and wanting to shoot the messenger.

Beth Dufresne is an experienced reporter with no axe to grind. The Tree of Life Educational Fund sponsors trips encouraging contact with Israelis and Palestinians to promote peace. The guide from Breaking the Silence represents a group of Israeli Defense Fund veterans compiling abuse actions of the IDF in the occupied territories.

Hebron is not an unimportant area to Arabs and Muslims. It is the largest city in the West Bank. Its majority is Arab, with a Jewish population of 500 to 800. The Israeli government has, by physical and legal means, segregated the city.

Hebron is important to both Arabs and Jews. It is home to the Cave of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs or the Ibrahim Mosque. There, Baruch Goldstein, an American-born Israeli doctor, walked into the mosque on Feb. 25, 1994 and killed 29 and wounded 150 worshippers.

On Nov. 4, 1995, after signing the Oslo Accords, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by a young Israeli.

No propaganda can hide the hatred for Palestinians and their obstructed right to live in freedom in the land they were born in.
