Mayor confident of safe reopening after Mohegan Sun visit
Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Mohegan Sun for a special tour to provide a behind-the-scenes look at all of the steps that have been taken to keep both team members and patrons safe when Mohegan Sun starts a slow reopening this week.
I was incredibly impressed at all of the changes. From the temperature checks at the entrance and enhanced HVAC with UV systems, to the physical distancing and disinfection and cleaning plans, it is clear that no expense has been spared. Masks will be required and limits on occupancy will be enforced to ensure proper distancing is safely maintained.
It is clear that the Mohegan Tribe is taking their responsibility very seriously and that they are being open and transparent as they move forward. Their plan was well thought out and inspired confidence in the casino’s approach. I left feeling confident and optimistic about the future. We need to get these operations back up and running and people safely back to work.
We are fortunate to have such a strong partner in this region that is doing everything possible to resume operations while keeping people safe.
