Cate Steel would be good for environment

This is a letter in support of updating Connecticut’s recycling initiatives, as doing so would protect not only our state’s environment but also its economy. For example, simply expanding the bottle bill to include 50 ml nips would raise much needed revenue for the state and reduce the number of these bottles that currently litter the streets of this region. Additionally, modernizing our recycling policies would help increase the value of recycled materials, benefiting both consumers and the recycling industry in the state.

We need to elect leaders who recognize that environmental and economic interests do not have to conflict if our state and our country are to remain competitive in the global economy. This is one of the many reasons that I am supporting a formidable candidate for state representative in the 37th District, Cate Steel. She is endorsed by the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, and is passionate about the environment. Cate's leadership on the environment and the new green economy will not only help create jobs, it will also help ensure our environment is clean and safe.
