I will vote for Baird Welch-Collins for this seat and I urge you to do the same. The incumbent, Republican Kathleen McCarty, has a "perfect" attendance record in Hartford, but scores low on political courage, and regularly votes nay on issues that would improve the quality of people's lives in her district. I am among several residents of Quaker Hill who recently wrote to McCarty and Senator Formica regarding fire safety in Waterford, especially Quaker Hill. Senator Formica asked how he might help. McCarty did not respond at all.

Apparently, McCarty sees no need to engage her opponent in a discussion of the issues confronting our district. This is an affront to her constituents and demonstrates her assumption that her tenure as our representative in Hartford is not subject to scrutiny. I emphatically disagree. It is time she was voted out. Baird Welch-Collins is an engaged member of the community, twice elected to the Waterford RTM, and he is not afraid to take a public stand on issues of importance to his constituents. He is the representative we need.
