Elci debate-one comments shameful

Lee Elci should be ashamed of himself, "Fragile Biden, bully Trump, befuddled audience," (Sept. 30). He spoke of Biden’s inability to speak during the debate.

Joe Biden is a stutterer and when bullying occurs, it takes even more time to form words. Trump acted like the proverbial school bully, interrupting Biden more times than I can count. Interruptions like that break the flow of words in a stutterer’s brain.

Unlike vision problems, which can be corrected with glasses, or hearing issues, which can be corrected with a hearing aid (both examples are in most cases), a speech dysfluency cannot be corrected with external devices. The stutterer learns to master ways to speak fluently.

Please do your homework, Elci, before criticizing how someone speaks.
