Evaluate experience, make smart choice for mayor

The City of Groton, assuming there would be a mayoral race between the incumbent Democrat and a Republican challenger, are now in a quandary, having to choose between two Democrats. It seems that the choices are presenting issues that are secondary. The main issue should be who will best lead the city for the next two years. Support should not be based on friendships, family ties, age, or race. We have been down that road.

On a national scale we have just lived through four years of contentiousness that tore families, neighbors, and friends apart. Long-time Groton residents remember the past political turmoil. They moved forward and chose a different path and have been steadfast in not going back. This is no time to allow that atmosphere to dominate Groton politics again.

The choice should be made based on experience, competency, and dedication to the City of Groton. Managing the city with all its departments and businesses is more than a full-time job. With that in mind I am sure the citizens will make the right choice going forward.
