The infrastructure of day care?

It never ceases to amaze me how “infrastructure” is an excuse for digging a bottomless money pit in some people’s minds. First and foremost, the illustrious Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and Rep. Joe Courtney are grabbing the shovels. In the Day’s article “Where Murphy, Blumenthal and Courtney stand on infrastructure priorities and process,” (June 11), it becomes abundantly clear. If anyone were paying attention to what the $2 trillion-plus package was in the beginning, you would be left scratching your head as to what the definition of infrastructure was and where the money was coming from.

Thankfully that initial bomb was a dud. So now we have proposals on the table that do not raise taxes, but instead tap previously allocated unused virus relief money and narrow the spending to real infrastructure. You know roads, bridges, rail. But Bloomie is not satisfied because the babysitting provision was not included in the new $1.2 trillion plan this time around. Murphy says the new bill is not big and bold enough.

Well riddle me this; what does daytime babysitting have to do with people "stuck in traffic,” as he puts it? And, believe me, that babysitting provision is only one of the “transformative” money pits they have in mind.
