95 and 395 split continues to be dangerous

95 North bound between exit 75 and the RT 395 exit

The section of 95 north bound between exit 75 and the I-395 exit, on the left, is just one tenth of a mile of road. If you enter 95 just after exit 75 you have just one tenth of a mile to get to the left and exit onto 395. Now we will also be dealing with tractor trailers pulling on and off on that short piece of road as well. This seems crazy to me.

Recently when traveling through this section I had a tandem tractor trailer a bit ahead of me on my left, just ahead of him in the right lane, ahead of me, was a small car. That car cut right in front of the tandem trailer, then over to the 395 exit. It was a very close call.

The state of Connecticut, instead of doing something to make this area of 95 safer, has instead OKed a truck stop on the right within this extremely short section of 95. The question is why would they do this? Why would they take a section of 95 that is known to be dangerous, which they reduce the speed limit to 55mph (which almost no one does) and make it even more dangerous? Why?
