Jan. 6 trial not a 'prime time' performace

It is very disappointing that you printed Cal Thomas’s column, “Prime time for anti-Trumpers,” (June 9), which trivializes the congressional committee's findings on the events of January 6, 2021. The testimony of William Barr, among many, should lay to rest the allegation of voter fraud in the 2020 election, and the evidence of an attempted coup on January 6 must be alarming and profoundly important for anyone who cares about the Constitution and the future of democracy in the United States.

For Thomas to dismiss this as a prime time television performance to distract voters from other issues is intellectually and morally bankrupt. He nowhere addresses the evidence that a carefully scripted plan could have stolen the election for Trump. Thomas insults the American people by suggesting that these revelations, and their implications for future elections, are far less important than the price of gas or issues at the border. The fact that Thomas also postures as a spokesman for Protestant Christianity is deeply offensive and misrepresents the millions of mainline Christians who refuse to allow their religion to be confused with MAGA nationalism.
