    Has Delivered for Madison

As an elected local official for the last seven years, I am acutely aware of how Madison residents perceive the burden of local property taxes. Throughout these years, I’ve been privileged to work with State Senator Ed Meyer to ease this burden and deliver value to the people of Madison.

Ed has been a strong supporter of projects we have achieved as a town, during good times and bad. He has partnered with town leaders from both parties to advance and protect the beautiful town we so love. His stewardship of our shoreline environment is well documented, and he has brought financial support from Hartford to offset our property tax burden.

When Scranton Library was fundraising, Ed was there, securing state bonding funds. He worked with former state representative Deb Heinrich to deliver increased Special Education Excess Cost Grant dollars to Madison. When we faced a Title IX issue, he helped secure $250,000 to build the girls’ turf softball field at Polson. He worked for increased PILOT funding to offset our responsibility to provide services to Hammonasset Park. He helped marshal funds from environmental groups and state sources to bring the Griswold property purchase within reach. And now he is working hard to secure a very large state bonding contribution to the Strong Field project.

These are but a few examples of Ed Meyer working to diminish our property taxes while increasing our property values, even during difficult times.

Ed Meyer has delivered for your readers. Replacing him now would not serve Madison’s best interests. I encourage your readers to deliver Ed’s re-election on Nov. 6.
