Outraged about treatment of pit bulls

I read the article "Norwich pit bulls' owner fights ruling to destroy dogs after 2013 attack," (Jan. 2), about the pit bull dogs Skyler and Dolly, with much sadness.

I cannot believe how cruelly these dogs are being treated! Taken from their home and caretaker, isolated at the Mohegan Park pound with minimal human contact. Their emotional state is pitiful. It appears that Dolly is heading to be non-social very soon, and that Skylar is wasting away in abject sorrow.

There is some doubt that these were the attacking dogs and yet they are being treated like they are viciously dangerous, just because they are that much-maligned breed. Wasn't it Ghandi who said a society can be judged by how it treats its animals?

Well, people of Norwich, you aren't showing any kindness or humanity to these poor bewildered, abandoned dogs, are you? So what does that say about you and your town, your pound and your leaders?

There really has to be a more humane way to treat these poor dogs. I hope that you work on finding it before these dogs are emotionally destroyed, if they haven't been already.
