Focus on policies not party affiliations

Wouldn't it be great if we were not associated with any party when election time comes? What a great thing when one party (or individuals) endorses the candidate for the other side. Upon election, would that party member only make decisions that are favorable to his/her party?

Elected officials should distance themselves from making decisions based only on political affiliation. Is it really a new idea that those in charge should look at what is good for all constituents. Republicans don't like Democrats, Democrats don't Republicans and the common man is caught in the middle. This does not even confront the issue of infighting. Elections should be based on the issues, not on who writes the best Letter to the Editor.
