    LED light switch is hardly enlightened

    This is a somewhat hesitant reply to the article, “LEDs make move for consumer spotlight,” (June 14). The spirochete bulbs aren’t worth a darn, and the lead technology is so far a real sinker. They will improve, no doubt. But I think that our government was rather premature in retiring the Edison incandescent light bulb.

    Free market would have eventually brought us to better light, but it only shows me how many politicians it takes to change a light bulb! (Answer: 545, for those whose interest is government − 535 to screw it out and replace bulbs, one guy at the top to hold the socket, and nine black-robed specters who must have been performing in the last act of Don Giovanni when this crap was enacted!)

    I’d take up the issue of where are they made, but that is a whole other kettle of worms!
