Watson: Ready to lead City of Groton

The willingness for open communication between city leadership and the Town of Groton has been lacking for years. There is need to work together, respect autonomy, find efficiencies, and save money. We all win here.

What I bring to the table is experience, leadership skills, and the ability to bring people together to exchange ideas. I am not promoting consolidation. That discussion can only be initiated by the voters.

Groton Utilities is a great asset to the City of Groton. I just received my bill and included was their Spring 2017 “Connections” publication. In reading it, the phrase in the first article jumped out at me, “not-for-profit business, owned by the taxpayers and residents of the City of Groton.”

Meanwhile we “the owners” keep hearing of expensive junkets spending ratepayer’s money. This has got to stop and those who are found to be in violation of our ethics code need to be held accountable.

Over the next few years the City of Groton faces big challenges. It would be an honor to serve and lead the City of Groton should the voters put that confidence in me. I ask for your support for mayor May 1.

    Harry Watson
