Do you really know all the changes?

Regardless of your stance on the proposed Groton Charter Revisions, I encourage everyone to look at the marked up draft document available on the town page (https://grtv2018.org/). Please look at the version that shows the changes from the current version. In addition to educating myself on what the proposed charter revision actually says and not just on others' opinions of what it says, I also made what I find to be a startling discovery. It appears as if the Charter Revision Commission has made efforts to remove the female gender from the charter and utilize the masculine pronoun.

Where the charter previously read as “his/her” the proposed revisions now read as “his” (note they seemingly missed changing “himself/herself”, “him/her”, “he/she”, and one instance of “his/her” from using both pronouns to only the male pronoun). What would be the purpose of the Charter Revision Commission making these changes with the other changes?

While I support many of the proposed revisions to the charter, I urge the Charter Revision Commission to maintain a gender neutral charter regardless of the outcome of the vote on the Charter Revision.
