Kudos to the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce for the wonderful job they did with the 63rd Mystic Outdoor Art Festival. The Chamber team of Bruce Flax, Morgan Yandow, and Solveig Persson should be especially thanked for their incredible planning and the hospitality they extended to the thousands of visitors who enjoyed the beautiful weekend.

The volunteers, Stonington Police Department, artists, and vendors should be commended for all they did to make the weekend go smoothly. As a volunteer with a booth on Bay Street, I saw some of the neighbors on this normally quiet little street go out of their way to make visitors feel welcome. As we all struggle in the midst of difficult times it was nice to see so many people smiling and just being neighborly.

I witnessed one woman who clearly was struggling a bit in the summer heat and needed a rest. As she stopped in front of a home on Bay Street, the owner came out and offered her a chair from her porch. This small deed made me realize what a special community we live in. I also have to thank Mystic Seaport for opening their gates and grounds to visitors from far and wide. Thanks to all involved for an amazing event.
