    Legislators tackle lead poisoning

It is a positive development that Connecticut lawmakers, led by Sen. Heather Somers, have taken bipartisan action to address childhood lead poisoning, “New law, funding address lead poisoning in Connecticut,” (Sept. 25).

Lead is detrimental to the cognitive development of young children, and we need leaders like Somers at the State Capitol to continue speaking out about these vital public health issues.

And as a ‘buyer beware’ side note: I encourage anyone who is looking to purchase a home that has a well to make sure the well is tested for lead.
