Martha Marx is a typical politician, saying one thing to get elected and doing the opposite. She recently sent out a mailer saying she supports funding police.

Her actions speak otherwise. As a City Councilor, Marx did not enforce the 80-man police manpower ordinance. Also, in the summer of 2021 Marx led the charge in trying to defund the police department, backed a referendum to reduce the number of police officers and she pledged to carry the momentum of the summer 2020 protests against police to every future election for the rest of our lives.

Fortunately, the citizens of New London through a city-wide referendum defeated her measure by a 2-1 margin. The citizens were there to protect their city and not let the liberal views of Martha Marx’s prevail. She was wrong then and is wrong now.

As a retired law enforcement officer with 20 years as a State Trooper, 15 years as New London Police Department officer and 10 years as police union president, let us not forget her actions against police.

If you believe Public Safety is a top priority then vote for the independent candidate that supports police departments, Jerry Labriola.
