    Blacker shows ‘courage and honesty’

In your Oct. 29 Editorial concerning candidates for the 2nd Congressional district, you make positive comments about candidate Kevin Blacker's citizen advocacy, but that he blows whistles "with no concerns over whose ears get hurt." (“Courtney for Congress”)

I submit that Mr. Blacker cares very much over whose ears get hurt. By observation, those should be politicians and business executives who are guilty of " malfeasance and ethical lapses" (your words). In his complaints about corruption and insider negotiations surrounding the State Pier project in New London, his actions have helped draw public attentions to the problems, including union busting, and huge construction cost overruns to be paid by our taxes.

Mr. Blacker is an excellent role model for representing us in Congress. Note his position on his own campaign financing; he does not solicit money or accept large donations but meets people whenever possible. He has certainly proven his courage and honesty to face major political bullying, which indicates he can represent the citizen/taxpayers of our district very well in Congress.
