Point O’Woods Beach board ignores shoreline car theft

On the the continuous stolen car crime wave along the shoreline, including at Point O’Woods Beach, the POW board continues grappling with ideas on how to protect its front entrance. Installing security gates is far too expensive and not technically suitable. Virtual license plate readers can be troublesome and ineffective.

At last June's annual POW Association meeting, Resident State Trooper Matt Weber strongly and sensibly urged the POW Board to install additional, better lighting at the front entrance to dissuade criminals, but the board has ignored Weber's valuable suggestions. Another winter has passed without any security. More stolen cars; and more concern among year-round senior residents for their safety. The board's main focus appears to be on illegal parking and food vendors.
