    EPA running amok, again

Biden’s EPA is trying to force consumers to purchase electric vehicles so that 60% of the vehicles will be electric by 2030. The administration says EVs are cleaner, safer, affordable and more reliable, but car manufacturers are scaling back, as most Americans don’t want them. Hertz has removed them from their lots as customers refuse to rent them.

They are expensive, require a large amount of electricity and driving range per fill-up is limited and time consuming. EV batteries are heavy, weighing upwards of 1,000 pounds or 20-25% of vehicle weight. This impacts the tire wear on roads contributing to more pollution to air, soil and water. To replace an EV battery costs $5,000-$15,000; combustion battery costs approximately $225.

EVs malfunction in freezing temperatures as witnessed this past winter. Owners pushing stalled vehicles into charging stations and in hot temperatures, battery drains, so driving distances are reduced. The EPA has set EV regulations for tractor trailers. Imagine the weight of the batteries that would be required to move a big rig! What about the efficiency of moving goods cross country, and the weight on our roads/bridges? Just imagine what everyday goods will cost if we don’t rein in the EPA.
