Essex - Three-year-olds Nicholas Humiston of West Hartford and Jonathon Costello, of Middletown, looked out the window moments before the North Pole Express left the Essex Steam Train station Thursday.

The North Pole Express is a holiday tradition where train passengers watch a "The Night Before Christmas" musical performance, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and participate in singalongs.
