    Tribal water company to hold rate-hike meeting

    Preston - The Preston Plains Water Co., owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, is hosting a hearing Thursday night on a proposed rate increase, the first since 1997.The hearing will be held at the Preston Town Hall on Route 2 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

    The hearing will be held at the Preston Town Hall on Route 2 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The increase will raise the quarterly metered rates from $3 per 1,000 gallons used to $8 per 1,000 gallons used; institute a fee for fire hydrant usage and additional fees depending on the size of the pipe used to bring the water to a resident or business.
