You probably know that the annual Durham Fair is the largest agricultural fair in Connecticut, bud did you know it's also the largest fair in North America managed entirely by unpaid volunteers? In 2011, fair-goers will enjoy all of the usual trappings of this beloved tradition, including livestock competitions, carnival rides, food, and more. Big names are headed to the Main Stage this year, too, with headlining acts KC and the Sunshine Band, Blues Traveler, and Steel Magnolia. Other features include an educational Discovery Area with seminars on food, farming, and home and garden care; a Kid's Place with pie-eating balloon-stomp, and other competitions; a midway; and the Durham Fair Farm Museum. This year's fair runs from Sept. 22 to 25. Hours are Sept. 22 from 4 to 10 p.m.; Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
